"Enter God's house reverently, sing joyfully, listen silently, worship expectantly."
William Arthur Ward

Worship at Calvary Lutheran
Calvary offers a variety of options
as we gather to worship our Lord.

Holy Communion is celebrated at all services.

Saturday Night Worship!   5:15 pm Saturday

is our intimate, informal service which begins at 5:15 pm in the Fellowship Hall. Piano and/or guitar accompany the singing.

Traditional Lutheran Worship   8:00 am Sunday
is offered at 8:00 am every Sunday morning and features one of the Lutheran Book of Worship (LBW) settings or the Chicago Folk Service. Hymns are usually from the LBW or With One Voice hymnals. Music from our beautiful pipe organ enhances the traditional LBW worship time while piano or Clavinova accompany the Chicago Folk Service celebrated each second Sunday of the month.

Celebration Worship   10:30 am Sunday
is a praise worship experience. It features more contemporary music and style; our Praise Team leads the singing every Sunday. Text and lyrics are projected onto large screens near the front of the sanctuary. Guitars, African drums and a clavinova accompany the singing.

Who may receive the bread and wine at Calvary?

All Christians are welcome to the Lord's Table.  We believe that in the simple gifts of bread and wine, our Savior is present for us in his Body and Blood when we hear the words "This is my body and blood given and shed for you.
We welcome all children to the Lord's Table.  Children who have not been instructed or previously received communion, should fold their arms over their heart and they will receive a blessing.
In addition to bread and wine, we also offer grape juice and gluten free wafers."

WEEKLY CHILDREN'S BULLETINS

Please ask an usher to direct you to the basket of Children's Bulletins and crayons at the table in the Narthex.  The activities in the bulletins reinforce the scripture lessons of the day.  Also take a look at the Kid's Corner for activity bags.
